Product Description

The Keygeek Crepe Linear is a smooth, linear switch designed for users who prefer a clean, bright typing sound with minimal stem wobble. It suits typists and keyboard enthusiasts who value a distinctive clack and low stem movement, making it a good fit for boards that emphasize crisp acoustics. It is less ideal for those seeking tactile feedback or a quieter experience.

Feel & Sound

This switch offers a smooth keystroke without tactile bumps, focusing on linear travel. Its unique PBT stem contributes to a bright, sharp sound profile, often described as a clean clack. The low stem wobble reduces unwanted key movement, enhancing typing precision and sound consistency. It produces a more pronounced clicky sound compared to typical linear switches, which may not suit noise-sensitive environments.

Actuation Characteristics

The switch actuates at a moderate force, requiring 45g to register a keypress and 53g total force to bottom out. The 2.0mm pre-travel and 3.6mm total travel provide a balanced response, suitable for steady typing speeds. The longer spring length affects the force curve, offering a slightly heavier bottom-out feel than lighter linear switches.

Build Quality

It features a PBT stem, the first known use of this durable material in a switch stem, which impacts both sound and longevity. The housing combines polycarbonate top and POM bottom materials, contributing to the bright sound and stable keypress. Factory lubrication is applied, reducing initial scratchiness and improving smoothness.

Trade-offs

The bright, clacky sound may be disruptive in quiet settings. While stem wobble is low, the unique materials and spring design may result in a firmer bottom-out feel that some users find less comfortable for extended typing. Unknown are its compatibility with LED lighting effects or hot-swap ease.
