Product Description

The Akko ACR Pro68 is a 65% mechanical keyboard kit designed for users who want a compact layout with hot-swappable switch support. It suits hobbyists who enjoy customizing their keyboard without soldering and users needing a balance between office work and casual gaming. Its gasket mount design and multiple foam layers aim to improve typing acoustics and feel.

Key Features

Hot-swappable sockets support north-facing 3/5-pin switches from various brands, allowing easy switch changes without soldering.
Includes both an aluminum plate and a spare polycarbonate plate, offering options for different typing feedback and sound profiles.
Gasket mount design uses silicone gaskets to reduce vibration and provide a softer typing experience compared to fixed mounts.

Build Quality

Case is CNC-machined acrylic with polished and sandblasted finishes, providing a sturdy and visually distinct enclosure.
Plate options and gasket mounting contribute to structural rigidity while maintaining some flex for comfort.
Multiple foam layers (silicone pad, Poron plate foam, EVA case foam) are included to dampen keystroke noise and reduce hollow sound.

Typing Experience

Gasket mount and foam layers combine to soften keypress impact and lower typing noise, which benefits quieter environments.
Choice of aluminum or polycarbonate plate allows users to tailor typing feel and sound to preference.
Lubed plate-mounted stabilizers reduce rattle, with support for screw-in stabilizers if preferred.

Compatibility

68-key layout fits compact setups while retaining arrow keys and some navigation keys, suitable for office and gaming use.
Compatible with a wide range of north-facing mechanical switches from popular manufacturers.
Unknown firmware or keymapping options, limiting advanced customization beyond hardware changes.

Trade-offs

No wireless connectivity, so it requires a wired USB-C connection at all times.
Acrylic case may be less durable or heavier compared to metal or plastic alternatives.
Limited information on software support or programmability may restrict users seeking extensive remapping or macros.
