What makes the Redragon DHARMA K740 keyboard stand out from other mechanical keyboards?

The DHARMA K740 is designed with a solid aluminum board that gives it both a premium look and a sturdy feel. Its compact 98-key layout preserves full functionality while saving desk space, and it features custom Dragon Chant linear switches that are pre-lubed for an exceptionally smooth and quiet typing experience.

Are the switches on this keyboard suitable for gaming and typing?

Absolutely! The custom linear switches provide a silky, cushioned keystroke that is both responsive and comfortable, making them ideal for both fast-paced gaming and long typing sessions. The pre-lubed design ensures minimal friction and a pleasant sound profile.

The easy-access control knob on the K740 lets you quickly adjust backlight brightness, change media volume, and control playback functions like play, pause, and skip. It’s a versatile addition that streamlines your workflow and entertainment.

Is the keyboard layout compact or full-size?

The DHARMA K740 uses a 98-key layout that retains all the essential keys of a traditional full-size keyboard—including the number pad—but in a more compact and space-saving form factor. This makes it perfect for those who want both functionality and a cleaner desk setup.

Can I program macros or remap keys?

Yes, with the included software, you can program macros, remap keys, and set up custom shortcuts to enhance your productivity or gaming experience. This allows for a highly personalized keyboard setup tailored to your needs.

What kind of build quality can I expect from this keyboard?

You’ll find a robust and premium build thanks to the tank-solid aluminum top plate and classic brushed surface. This not only adds to the keyboard’s durability but also gives it a sleek, elegant appearance that complements any setup.

Product Description

The Redragon DHARMA K740 is a compact mechanical keyboard designed for users who want a smaller footprint without losing full functionality. It suits typists and gamers who prefer a linear switch feel with smooth key travel and seek convenient media controls in a sturdy, metal-bodied keyboard. Its 98-key layout retains standard keys while saving desk space, making it practical for limited work areas.

Key Features

Compact 98-key layout reduces size by about 20% compared to a full 100% keyboard, saving desk space while keeping all standard keys.
One-knob control allows quick adjustment of backlight brightness and media functions like volume and playback without extra keys.
Software support enables customization of lighting modes, macros, and keybindings for tailored workflows or gaming setups.

Build Quality

The keyboard uses a solid aluminum case with a brushed finish, providing a stable and durable base that resists flex during typing. This metal construction adds weight, helping the keyboard stay in place on the desk.

Typing Experience

Equipped with custom linear switches that are thick-lubed, the K740 offers smooth, cushioned keypresses with a creamy, quiet feel. This suits users who prefer a soft, consistent keystroke without tactile bumps or clicks.

Trade-offs

The compact layout may require some adjustment for users accustomed to full-size keyboards with dedicated function rows or numpads.
Only wired connectivity is available, which limits placement flexibility compared to wireless options.
Unknown details on keycap material and mounting style, which may affect long-term durability and typing acoustics.
