Build and typing options

The aluminium case pairs with an exposed stainless steel or brass weight, giving the finished board substantial mass and helping it stay put on a desk. A half-sandwich, half-gasket mount combines with an isolated top mount, offering different ways to tune the build. The design aims for a more flexible feel while retaining the F-series sound character, though the result will depend on the chosen PCB, plate and switches.

Compatibility and setup

The F12 TKL layout is available in WK and WKL versions. The case supports several third-party TKL PCBs, as well as F1 PCBs and plates, so it may work with parts you already own. The top-mount option requires the F8X plate. An optional F8X PCB is available in hot-swap or solder versions, letting builders choose whether to change switches without soldering.

Trade-offs

This is a barebone kit: switches, keycaps and stabilizers are not included. The PCB and plate are included only if selected in the configuration.
Its heavy build is a benefit for desk stability but a drawback for frequent transport.
