Product Description

The FL·ESPORTS OG87 Retro is a tenkeyless mechanical keyboard with a classic retro design, suited for users who want a nostalgic look combined with modern features. It fits well for typists and hobbyists who value customizable switches and quiet, comfortable typing. Its hot-swappable sockets allow easy switch changes without soldering, appealing to switch enthusiasts.

Typing Experience and Acoustics

The keyboard uses specially customized Kailh MX Ice Mint V2 and MX Ice Silver linear switches, offering options for quick response or smooth keystrokes. A five-layer internal padding reduces vibrations and sharp sounds, resulting in a softer, quieter typing experience. PBT keycaps with an OEM profile provide durable, comfortable key surfaces.

Connectivity

OG87 supports three connection modes: wired USB-C, 2.4GHz wireless, and Bluetooth. This flexibility allows users to switch between low-latency wired use and convenient wireless setups. A side compartment stores the 2.4GHz receiver, reducing the risk of loss.

Battery Life and Backlighting

Equipped with a 4000mAh battery, the keyboard can last weeks to months on a single charge in typical use, minimizing interruptions. It features full RGB backlighting with 16.8 million colors and multiple lighting effects, allowing users to customize the visual experience.

Trade-offs

The keyboard’s retro styling and OEM profile keycaps may not suit users who prefer modern or sculpted key profiles. While hot-swappable, it only supports the included Kailh switch types, limiting switch variety. The keyboard is relatively heavy at 1.2kg, which may reduce portability.
