Product Description

The Glorious Gaming 2 Compact is a 65% ISO-layout barebone keyboard designed for users who want to build a custom mechanical keyboard. It suits hobbyists and enthusiasts who prefer to choose their own switches and keycaps to tailor typing feel, sound, and appearance. Its hot-swap support allows easy switch changes without soldering, making it flexible for experimentation or upgrades.

Key Features

Hot-swap sockets support MX-style switches, enabling quick switch replacement without tools.
RGB per-key lighting with customizable effects through Glorious CORE software or open-source firmware like QMK and VIA.
Plate-mount stabilizers are factory-lubricated to reduce noise and vibration for a quieter typing experience.
Wired USB-C connection ensures stable input with polling rates up to 1000 Hz, suitable for gaming and productivity.

Build Quality

Top frame is CNC-machined aluminum, providing rigidity and a solid typing surface.
Bottom case is made of polymer, balancing durability with weight.
The mounting design and materials contribute to reduced keyboard resonance and a firm feel during use.

Typing Experience

Without pre-installed switches or keycaps, the typing feel depends entirely on user choices.
Plate-mount stabilizers are designed to minimize rattle and improve key stability.
Sound profile and key feedback can be fully customized by selecting preferred switches and keycaps.

Compatibility

Supports ISO 65% layout, which may suit users needing a compact keyboard with arrow keys and some navigation keys.
Compatible with MX-style switches from various brands, including Cherry, Gateron, and Kailh.
Firmware supports Glorious CORE, QMK, and VIA, allowing advanced key remapping and lighting customization.

Trade-offs

Being a barebone, it requires users to source and install switches and keycaps separately, which may not suit those wanting a ready-to-use keyboard.
No wireless connectivity, limiting use to wired setups only.
As a 65% layout, it lacks a dedicated number pad and some function keys, which may be less ideal for users needing full-size layouts.
