Product Description

KBDFans Chamber is a wired TKL barebone kit for keyboard hobbyists who want to choose their switches, keycaps and typing sound. It suits people who prefer a firm, direct feel and want to tune the result through the plate, internal weight and optional foam. It is less suitable if you need a ready-to-use keyboard or wireless connectivity.

Typing feel and sound

The top-mount design secures the plate to the upper case for a firm response. PTFE pads between the case halves reduce direct metal contact and help limit vibration transfer. The design relies on case volume, geometry and materials rather than heavy foam to shape sound, so the result will depend on your switches and chosen plate. Optional foam gives you another way to adjust it.

Choose from four plate materials, each offering a different balance of firmness and flexibility. The internal weight is available in aluminium, stainless steel or copper, changing the board’s mass and internal material mix.

Compatibility and setup

You can choose a solder PCB or wired hot-swap PCB. Hot-swap lets you replace compatible switches without soldering, but the available hot-swap options are limited to ANSI or ISO layouts. The solder PCB supports more layout options. The PCBs use Vial firmware and are VIA-compatible. WK and WKL case options let you choose a layout with or without a Windows key.

Trade-offs

This is a kit, not a complete keyboard. Switches, keycaps and stabilizers are not included, so you will need to source those separately. It is wired only, and the firm top-mount feel may not suit users seeking a softer, more flexible typing experience.
