Product Description

The Keydous NJ81 is a compact 80-key mechanical keyboard suited for users who want a versatile, portable layout with wireless and wired connectivity. It fits well for typists and hobbyists who value switch customization and programmable keys, as well as those needing multi-device support. Its unique display screen and hot-swappable switches add flexibility, but it may be less ideal for users requiring a full-size keyboard or very long wireless battery life with RGB enabled.

Key Features

Compact 80-key layout includes alphanumeric, arrow, and function keys in a smaller footprint than full-size keyboards.
Full-key hot-swappable PCB supports both 3-pin and 5-pin switches, allowing easy switch replacement without soldering.
Multiple switch options including Kalih Box Strawberry Cream Pro linear switches, offering smooth and responsive typing.
Small display screen shows battery status and active connection mode, providing quick at-a-glance info.
Dual or triple connectivity modes: wired USB-C, Bluetooth 5.0, and 2.4 GHz wireless, enabling connection to up to three devices simultaneously.
RGB backlighting with customizable effects enhances visibility and aesthetics but reduces battery life when active.
Programmable top layer and Fn layer keys via driver software for personalized layouts.

Typing Experience

Dye-sublimated PBT keycaps resist wear and offer a matte texture for comfortable typing.
Ergonomic inclined design with narrow bezels supports a natural hand position.
Switch options vary in actuation force and travel, catering to different tactile preferences.

Connectivity and Compatibility

Wired USB-C connection ensures stable, low-latency use for gaming or work.
Bluetooth 5.0 and 2.4 GHz wireless modes provide flexible multi-device use across Windows, Apple, Linux, and Android systems.
Supports simultaneous connection to three devices, easing workflow across platforms.

Trade-offs

Battery life ranges from up to 450 hours with backlight off to about 15 hours with RGB on, which may require frequent charging if lighting is used extensively.
Compact TKL layout lacks a dedicated number pad, which may be less suitable for users needing extensive numeric input.
Unknown details on case material and mounting style limit assessment of long-term durability and typing acoustics.
