Product Description

The Redragon PENUMBRA K687 Pro is a compact mechanical keyboard designed for users who want a balance between desk space efficiency and functional key access. It suits typists and gamers looking for a quieter, cushioned typing experience with flexible connectivity options. Its layout keeps essential function keys without the need for FN combos, making it practical for productivity and casual gaming.

Key Features

81-key layout combines a 65% compact size with dedicated function keys, saving desk space while maintaining key accessibility.
One-knob control allows quick adjustment of backlight brightness and media playback without extra keys, streamlining use.
Tri-mode connectivity offers wired USB-C, Bluetooth 3.0/5.0, and 2.4GHz wireless options, adapting to different devices and environments.
Software support enables custom keybindings, macros, and lighting effects, enhancing workflow and personalization.

Build Quality

Full CNC aluminum frame with a frosted finish provides a stable, solid base that resists flex during typing.
Precision-locked covers with silicone gaskets replace traditional screws, reducing noise and allowing slight keyboard flex for softer feedback.
Multiple layers of foam dampen hollow sounds, resulting in quieter keystrokes and a cleaner acoustic profile.

Typing Experience

Custom thick-lubed linear switches deliver smooth, elastic keypresses with reduced scratchiness.
Vertical cushioning and silicone pads soften impact noise, making typing quieter and more comfortable over long sessions.
Upgraded hot-swap sockets support most 3- and 5-pin switches, allowing switch customization without soldering.

Trade-offs

The compact layout omits a dedicated numpad, which may be less ideal for users needing frequent numeric input.
While the keyboard supports multiple wireless modes, battery life and latency details are unknown.
The one-knob control limits direct access to some media or lighting functions that other keyboards might offer via dedicated keys.
