What makes the Shortcut Studio Rainy75 unique compared to other mechanical keyboards?

The Shortcut Studio Rainy75 stands out with its distinctive 'raindrop' sound profile, achieved through a carefully engineered five-layer dampening system. Combined with a robust CNC-machined aluminum body and a flexible gasket-mounted FR4 plate, it delivers a premium typing experience that appeals to both audiophiles and passionate typists.

Does the Rainy75 support wireless connectivity?

Yes, the Rainy75 offers versatile connectivity options. You can choose between USB-C for wired use, Bluetooth 5.0, or a 2.4 GHz wireless connection, giving you flexibility whether you’re working at a desk or on the go.

How long does the battery last on the Rainy75?

Thanks to its massive 7,000 mAh battery, the Rainy75 can last up to 900 hours on a single charge if you use it without RGB lighting. Even with lighting enabled, you can expect excellent battery life, making it ideal for long working or gaming sessions.

What kind of switches are used in the Rainy75 Pro?

The Rainy75 Pro is equipped with Kailh Cocoa Linear switches. These switches are known for their smooth, precise, and pleasantly quiet operation, making them a great choice for both fast typists and those who appreciate a refined keystroke feel.

Is the Rainy75 compatible with custom keymapping software?

Absolutely! The keyboard is fully compatible with QMK and VIA, allowing you to customize key functions and macros directly in your browser. This makes it easy to tailor the keyboard layout to your workflow or gaming needs.

What materials are used in the construction of the Rainy75?

The Rainy75 is crafted from CNC-machined aluminum, complemented by a stainless steel frame for extra durability and a premium feel. The keycaps are made from doubleshot PBT, ensuring long-lasting legends and resistance to wear.

What kind of lighting does the Rainy75 feature?

Each key on the Rainy75 features individual RGB lighting with south-facing LEDs. This design ensures a bright, even illumination that highlights both the legends and the keyboard’s aesthetic, whether you’re working in a dim room or want to personalize your setup.

Is the keyboard layout suitable for international users?

The Rainy75 is available in a 75% layout, which includes 82 keys with dedicated function and navigation keys. The current version uses the ISO-DE (German) layout, making it especially suitable for users who prefer or require this format.

How does the Rainy75 achieve its unique typing sound?

The signature 'raindrop' sound is the result of a sophisticated five-layer dampening system, combining materials like Poron, EPMD, and PET. This setup not only reduces unwanted noise but also produces a deep, satisfying thock with each keystroke.

Is the Rainy75 comfortable for long typing sessions?

Definitely. The combination of a gasket-mounted plate, flexible FR4 material, and ergonomic design ensures that typing feels soft and springy, reducing fatigue even during extended writing or coding sessions.

Product Description

The WOBKEY Rainy75 is a 75% mechanical keyboard suited for users who want a compact layout with versatile connectivity and a distinctive typing sound. It fits well for hobbyists who appreciate switch variety and acoustic customization, as well as users needing wired and wireless modes with low latency. It may appeal less to those prioritizing silent typing or full RGB lighting on all versions.

Key Features

Tri-mode connectivity allows switching between wired, 2.4GHz wireless, and Bluetooth 5.0, providing flexibility for different setups and devices.
Low latency across modes supports responsive typing, with wired at 2ms, 2.4GHz at 3ms, and Bluetooth at 7ms.
VIA software compatibility enables easy key remapping and customization without complex programming.
Long battery life supports extended wireless use, with up to 450 hours without RGB and 80 hours with RGB lighting enabled.

Build Quality

Constructed from CNC-machined 6063 aluminum, offering a sturdy and durable frame.
PCB gasket mounting uses foam layers to reduce vibration and improve typing acoustics.
Double shot PBT keycaps provide durability and resistance to shine over time.
Available in multiple versions, including a Silver model without RGB lighting and a Red model with a reinforced FR4 plate.

Typing Experience

Factory-lubed linear switches (HMX Violet or Kailh Snow Coco) deliver smooth keypresses with a 45g operating force.
Acoustic dampening materials like Poron foam and dampening pads create a raindrop-like typing sound, enhancing feedback without harsh noise.
PCB gasket design cushions keypresses, reducing finger fatigue and improving overall feel.

Trade-offs

The Silver version lacks RGB lighting, which may be a drawback for users wanting full backlight customization.
Bluetooth latency is higher than wired or 2.4GHz modes, which might affect users sensitive to input delay.
The keyboard’s weight (up to 2.4kg) makes it less portable compared to lighter models.
