Can I customize the actuation point on each key?

Yes, the GX1 lets you individually adjust the actuation point of each key within a 1.5mm to 3.0mm range. This means you can set certain keys, like WASD, to a shallower actuation for quicker gaming responses, while leaving others deeper for typing accuracy. All adjustments are easily managed through the included software suite.

Is the Thocc Exchange GX1 suitable for both gaming and typing?

Absolutely! The GX1 is designed to deliver the signature comfort and precision of Topre switches, making it a joy for long typing sessions. At the same time, its rapid response, customizable actuation, and compact TKL layout make it a top choice for competitive gamers who need speed and reliability.

What kind of switches does the GX1 use?

The keyboard features custom 45g Topre electro-capacitive switches. These switches offer a buttery smooth feel with a silent upstroke and are renowned for their durability and unique typing experience, blending the best aspects of mechanical and membrane technologies.

How does the RGB lighting work on this keyboard?

The GX1 features full RGB backlighting, allowing you to choose between subtle underglow or vibrant dynamic effects. You can control colors, brightness, and effects directly through the software, making it easy to match your setup or mood.

Does the keyboard support macros and custom keymaps?

Yes, you can program macros, remap keys, and create multiple layers using the GX1’s powerful software suite. This functionality is ideal for both gamers and power users who want to optimize their workflow or in-game commands.

What material are the keycaps made from?

The keycaps on the GX1 are made from doubleshot PBT, which means they are highly resistant to shine, wear, and fading. They also provide a satisfying, textured feel that stands up to heavy use.

Is this keyboard compatible with my setup?

The GX1 uses a standard USB-C connection, making it compatible with most modern PCs and laptops. Its tenkeyless (TKL) layout saves desk space and is especially popular with gamers and those who prefer a minimalist setup.

What is NKRO, and does the GX1 support it?

NKRO stands for N-Key Rollover, which means the keyboard can register every keypress, even when multiple keys are pressed simultaneously. The GX1 offers full NKRO, ensuring every input is detected accurately—especially important for fast-paced gaming.

Does the Thocc Exchange GX1 have onboard memory?

Yes, the keyboard features onboard memory, so your custom profiles, macros, and lighting settings travel with the keyboard. This allows you to plug the GX1 into any computer and have your personalized setup ready to go.

Product Description

The Thocc Exchange GX1 is a tenkeyless mechanical keyboard designed for gamers who want the unique feel of Topre electro-capacitive switches combined with gaming-focused features. It suits competitive players and typists who value adjustable key responsiveness and full customization through software. This keyboard balances the comfort of Topre switches with the responsiveness needed for fast-paced gaming.

Key Features

Adjustable actuation per key allows users to set key sensitivity between 1.5mm and 3.0mm, enabling faster inputs or deeper presses depending on preference.
Full NKRO (N-Key Rollover) ensures all simultaneous key presses register correctly, important for complex gaming commands.
Software-controlled RGB lighting offers customizable underglow and dynamic effects, allowing users to tailor aesthetics without hardware limitations.
Fully programmable keys support layers, macros, and actuation maps, providing flexibility for gaming and productivity setups.

Typing Experience

Topre 45g electro-capacitive switches provide a smooth, silent keypress with a non-contact design, reducing wear and noise compared to mechanical switches.
Per-key actuation tuning helps optimize key response for different gaming styles or typing preferences.
Doubleshot PBT keycaps resist shine and offer a consistent texture, enhancing durability and feel over time.

Build and Layout

The tenkeyless layout saves desk space and suits FPS and MOBA gaming, where mouse movement is prioritized.
USB-C wired connection ensures stable, low-latency input without wireless interference.

Trade-offs

Limited to wired USB-C connectivity, so no wireless option for mobile or clutter-free setups.
Topre switches, while comfortable and durable, may not provide the tactile feedback or audible click preferred by some gamers.
Software dependency for customization may add complexity for users unfamiliar with keyboard programming.
