Product Description

The KEEBD Reviung 5 is a compact 5-key macropad designed for users who need a small, customizable input device for shortcuts or macro commands. It suits hobbyists and tinkerers comfortable with assembling hardware and programming firmware. Its minimal layout focuses on essential keys, with an option to include a rotary encoder for additional control.

Key Features

Supports 4 or 5 keys with MX-style switches, allowing users to choose their preferred mechanical feel and sound.
Optional rotary encoder adds a versatile input method for volume control, scrolling, or other functions.
Precompiled firmware is available, simplifying setup for users familiar with custom keyboard programming.
Optional RGB LED rear lighting can enhance visibility and aesthetics in low-light environments.

Build Quality

Constructed from acrylic plates for the switch plate, bottom, and controller cover, offering a lightweight and visually clear design.
Includes brass standoffs and screws for stable assembly and durability.
Rubber feet provide grip and reduce movement on desk surfaces.

Customization and Assembly

Kit requires soldering of switches, diodes, and optional components, making it suitable for users with basic soldering skills.
Supports hot-swap controller option via EZ-Solder Header for easier controller replacement without resoldering.
Users must supply their own Pro Micro controller, MX switches, and keycaps, allowing full personalization but requiring additional purchases.

Trade-offs

Limited to 4 or 5 keys, which restricts use to specific macro or shortcut functions rather than full typing tasks.
Assembly and programming require technical knowledge, making it less ideal for beginners or those seeking a plug-and-play device.
Acrylic construction may be less durable or rigid compared to metal or thicker plastic cases.

Use Cases

Good for users needing a small, programmable input device for video editing, gaming macros, or productivity shortcuts.
Suitable for hobbyists who enjoy building and customizing mechanical keyboards at a component level.
Less suitable for users who want a ready-to-use keypad or require more keys for complex input.
