Product Description

The Varmilo Minilo VXT81 Retro is a 75% mechanical keyboard designed for users who want versatile connectivity and switch customization in a compact layout. It suits hobbyists who value wireless options and hot-swappable switches, as well as typists seeking per-key RGB lighting and sound dampening. Its triple-mode connection supports multiple devices, making it practical for users who switch between systems.

Key Features

Triple connectivity with wired USB-C, Bluetooth 5.1, and 2.4 GHz wireless, allowing connection to up to three devices and easy switching.
Per-key RGB backlighting provides customizable lighting effects and visual feedback, including charging and low battery indicators.
Hot-swap sockets enable users to change switches without soldering, supporting personalized typing feel and sound.
Includes multiple extra keycaps (Escape, Enter, Spacebar) in different colors for customization or replacement.
NKRO (N-Key Rollover) in wired mode ensures all simultaneous key presses register, while wireless mode supports 6-key rollover.
Type-Cool sound dampening reduces typing noise for a quieter experience.

Build Quality

Constructed with ABS plastic for top, bottom, and keycaps, providing durability with a lightweight feel.
Plate-mounted switches offer stable keypresses and consistent feedback.
Double-shot ABS keycaps prevent legends from fading over time.

Connectivity

Wired USB-C mode offers reliable, low-latency input suitable for gaming or work requiring consistent response.
Bluetooth 5.1 and 2.4 GHz wireless modes allow flexible device pairing and mobility, though wireless rollover is limited to 6 keys.
Battery status is visually indicated, including a flashing light for low battery and illuminated Escape key during charging.

Compatibility

ANSI layout with US QWERTY logical layout fits standard keycap sets and user expectations.
Compatible with Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.
Multimedia keys are included for convenient media control.

Trade-offs

ABS plastic construction may feel less premium and be more prone to wear compared to PBT keycaps or metal cases.
Wireless mode limits rollover to 6 keys, which may affect fast typists or gamers relying on multiple simultaneous key presses.
No built-in audio or microphone ports, so external peripherals are required for sound input/output.
Unknown battery life duration and firmware customization options.
