Product Description

The Varmilo Sword 287 Pacific is a tenkeyless mechanical keyboard designed for users who want a durable metal case combined with Varmilo’s EC series switches. It suits typists and enthusiasts who prefer a solid, visually distinctive keyboard with a US ANSI layout. This keyboard is not hotswappable, so it is better for users comfortable with their chosen switch type or those who do not plan to frequently change switches.

Key Features

Detachable magnetic top case allows easy customization with future color options, offering visual variety without replacing the entire keyboard.
Full USB rollover ensures reliable input recognition, useful for fast or complex typing and gaming.
White LED backlighting provides basic illumination without RGB complexity, suitable for low-light environments.
Multimedia keys enable quick access to common functions, enhancing productivity.

Build Quality

CNC-machined aluminum case offers a sturdy, premium-feeling chassis with a four-stage color separation design that adds visual depth from multiple angles.
Plate-mounted switches contribute to a stable key feel and consistent typing experience.
Keycaps are made of durable PBT plastic with dye-sublimated legends, reducing wear and maintaining legibility over time.

Typing Experience

Equipped with Varmilo EC Rose, Sakura, Daisy, or Ivy switches, which provide distinct tactile or linear feedback depending on the variant, catering to different typing preferences.
Non-hotswappable design means switch replacement requires soldering, limiting easy customization.

Compatibility

Standard US ANSI layout supports wide software compatibility and user familiarity.
Works with Windows, Mac, and Linux via USB-C connection, ensuring broad system support without wireless options.

Trade-offs

No hotswap support limits switch experimentation or easy repairs.
Lacks built-in audio or microphone ports, which may be inconvenient for users wanting integrated audio connectivity.
White LED backlighting is basic and may not satisfy users seeking customizable RGB lighting.
Tenkeyless layout omits a numeric keypad, which may reduce efficiency for users needing frequent number input.
