Varmilo VA87M

The Varmilo VA87M is a tenkeyless mechanical keyboard suited for users who want a compact layout without sacrificing key quality or compatibility. It fits well for office typists and general users who prefer a wired connection and a solid build with reliable Cherry MX switches. It is less ideal for those needing hot-swappable switches or wireless connectivity.

Key Features

• Tenkeyless layout saves desk space while retaining essential keys, suitable for users who do not require a numeric keypad.
• Full USB key rollover ensures all simultaneous key presses register accurately, beneficial for fast typists and gamers.
• White LED backlighting provides basic visibility in low-light conditions without customizable RGB effects.
• Multimedia keys allow convenient control of audio and media functions without additional software.

Build Quality

• ABS plastic frame and plastic top and bottom materials keep the keyboard lightweight but may be less durable than metal alternatives.
• Plate-mounted Cherry MX switches contribute to a stable key feel and consistent actuation.
• Dye-sublimated PBT keycaps resist wear and maintain legend clarity over time, supporting long-term use.

Typing Experience

• Choice of various Cherry MX switch types (Black, Brown, Blue, Red, Silver, Clear, Silent Red, Silent Black) allows users to select preferred tactile and auditory feedback.
• Non-hot-swappable switches mean switch replacement requires soldering, limiting customization for hobbyists.

Compatibility

• Supports Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems, making it versatile across different platforms.
• ANSI layout with US QWERTY logical layout suits users familiar with standard English keyboard arrangements.

Trade-offs

• No wireless connectivity limits use to wired setups, which may restrict portability or desk cable management preferences.
• Absence of audio and microphone ports reduces integrated multimedia convenience.
• Limited backlighting options may not satisfy users wanting advanced lighting customization.
