Product Description

The Vgn VGN98 Pro is a compact 98-key mechanical keyboard suited for users who want a balance between wireless versatility and a solid typing experience. It fits well for hobbyists who like to customize switches without soldering, and for those needing multi-device connectivity with a long-lasting battery. Its gasket-mounted design targets users seeking quieter, smoother keypresses in a compact layout.

Key Features

Supports three connectivity modes: 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth, and wired USB-C, allowing flexible use across devices.
Full-key hot-swappable sockets enable easy switch replacement or customization without soldering.
RGB backlighting includes customizable effects and musical rhythm sync for visual feedback during use.
Large 8000mAh battery offers extended wireless use, up to 40 days with lighting off, reducing frequent recharging.

Build Quality

Gasket-mounted structure suspends the PCB with silicone padding to reduce cavity resonance, resulting in quieter typing.
Durable PBT keycaps with MDA/KOP profile provide a consistent feel and resistance to shine over time.
Double-foot adjustment allows users to change typing angle for ergonomic comfort.

Typing Experience

Equipped with Kailh Box Cream Pro POM switches, offering smooth linear feedback with a longer travel distance than typical linear switches.
Sound-absorbing design minimizes hollow or echoing noises common in some mechanical keyboards.
Finely adjustable stabilizers improve keypress stability on larger keys, reducing rattle.

Compatibility

Supports Windows and Mac dual system switching, making it suitable for users who switch between operating systems.
98% layout retains most keys while saving desk space compared to full-size keyboards.

Trade-offs

The keyboard’s compact layout may lack dedicated function row or navigation cluster preferred by some users.
RGB lighting and wireless use reduce battery life significantly compared to when lighting is off.
Unknown firmware or keymapping customization options limit insight into advanced remapping capabilities.
