What are the connection options available for the ZoomPad TIGA E?

The ZoomPad TIGA E supports tri-mode connectivity, allowing you to connect via Bluetooth, 2.4 GHz wireless, or USB. This flexible connectivity makes it easy to switch between devices and enjoy a seamless typing experience.

Can I customize the typing angle or mounting system on this keyboard?

The keyboard features a fixed typing angle of 6.5°, designed for ergonomic comfort. It offers two mounting systems: top mounting and silica gel mounting, which can affect the typing feel and sound profile, allowing some level of customization in how the keyboard feels when typing.

What materials are used in the construction of the ZoomPad TIGA E?

This keyboard is crafted with a full CNC aluminum top and bottom case, providing a solid and premium build. It also features a 1.6mm non-flex cut PCB, and you can choose between different plate materials such as PC, Aluminum, FR4, or POM depending on your preference for sound and typing feel.

How does the sound profile vary with different foam or dampening options?

The ZoomPad TIGA E offers three types of dampening foam options: Cork Sandwich, Classic Foam, and Poron Foam. The Cork Sandwich creates a crisper sound with no traditional foam, Classic Foam results in a higher-pitched sound that changes over time, and Poron Foam provides a muted, consistent sound ideal for office environments.

Is the keyboard easy to assemble for someone new to custom keyboards?

Yes, the ZoomPad TIGA E is designed with user-friendly assembly in mind, featuring a ball catch system that simplifies putting the case together. However, some users note that installing stabilizers can be a bit challenging due to their small size, so patience and careful handling are advised.

Does the keyboard have any special features related to weight or balance?

The keyboard includes modular external weights and dual wings, allowing you to adjust its heft and balance to your liking. This contributes to a premium and solid typing experience, making the keyboard feel substantial without being cumbersome.

What battery capacity does the ZoomPad TIGA E have, and how does it affect usage?

It comes equipped with a 600mAh battery, providing ample power for wireless use. This capacity ensures extended typing sessions without frequent recharging, enhancing convenience for users who prefer wireless connectivity.

Are there any known quirks or things to be aware of when using the scroll wheel?

Some users have observed that the scroll wheel can feel a bit stiff, which might be intentional to prevent accidental scrolling. Also, the ribbon cable for the scroll wheel may require careful folding during assembly to fit properly without damaging the connection.

Can I use VIA software with this keyboard for key remapping?

Yes, the ZoomPad TIGA E supports VIA, a popular software for customizing keymaps and layers, enabling you to tailor the keyboard layout to your specific needs with ease.

What color options are available for this keyboard?

The keyboard offers a variety of unique color options including Milk Tea, White, Black, Aquamarine with glitter, Forest Green, Grape Purple, Sky Blue, Gunmetal Gray, Blush Pink, and more, allowing you to choose a style that matches your personal aesthetic.

Product Description

The Meletrix ZoomPad TIGA E is a compact mechanical keyboard suited for hobbyists and users who want a versatile, modular numpad with wireless and wired connectivity. It fits those who value customization in typing feel and sound, and who appreciate multiple mounting options and sound dampening choices. It is less ideal if you prefer a fully screw-in stabilizer setup or require a fully rigid mounting system out of the box.

Key Features

Tri-mode connectivity supports 2.4G wireless, USB, and Bluetooth, offering flexible use across devices.
Modular design includes interchangeable grille, rear badges, and external weights, allowing some visual and weight customization.
Two mounting systems, top mounting and silica gel mounting, let users adjust typing feel and acoustics.
Three foam options (cork sandwich, classic foam, Poron foam) change the sound profile from crisp to muted, catering to different environments including office use.

Build Quality

Full CNC aluminum case provides solid construction and heft, contributing to stable typing.
1.6mm non-flex PCB enhances board rigidity but limits flexibility in mounting plate options.
Assembly can be challenging due to small stabilizer inserts and non-threaded standoff holes, requiring some force during build.
Included stabilizers are clip-in style, which may be less preferred by users accustomed to screw-in stabilizers.

Typing Experience

Multiple foam kits allow tuning of acoustics from brighter to more muted sound profiles.
Top and silica gel mounting options provide different typing feels, from firmer to softer.
Scroll wheel has a slightly stiff action, possibly to reduce accidental input.
Some minor rattling noted around the screen area, which may affect perceived build solidity.

Connectivity

Tri-mode support enables seamless switching between wired USB, Bluetooth, and 2.4G wireless, suitable for multi-device setups.
Includes a 600mAh battery for wireless use, though exact battery life is unknown.

Trade-offs

Stabilizer installation can be difficult due to small clip-in inserts and lack of screw-in options.
Non-threaded standoff holes require forceful assembly, which may concern some builders.
Loose screen fit and long ribbon cable may cause slight rattle and require careful handling.
Missing elastic bars for silica gel mounting may limit mounting system use unless supplied separately.
