Product Description

The HMX Green Apple Linear is a smooth, light linear switch suited for users who prefer a consistent keystroke without tactile bumps or clicks. It fits well for gamers seeking quick, uninterrupted key presses and typists who favor a soft, even feel. Its moderate actuation force balances responsiveness with comfort, making it suitable for extended typing sessions and fast-paced input.

Feel & Sound

Linear design provides a smooth, uninterrupted keystroke without tactile feedback or audible clicks.
Sound profile is generally quiet with a soft bottom-out, suitable for office or shared environments.
Polycarbonate top housing may contribute to a slightly muted sound compared to harder plastics.

Actuation Characteristics

Moderate actuation force of 45g allows for responsive key presses without requiring heavy finger effort.
Short pre-travel of 2.0mm supports quicker input registration, beneficial for gaming and fast typing.
Total travel of 3.3mm provides a comfortable depth, balancing speed and key feel.
Bottom-out force at 53g offers a gentle resistance at the end of the stroke, reducing finger fatigue.

Build Quality

Stem made of POM (polyoxymethylene) offers smooth sliding and durability over time.
Top housing constructed from polycarbonate, which can affect sound dampening and feel.
Bottom housing uses P5 material, details on its impact are unknown.
22mm spring length contributes to consistent force application throughout the key press.

Compatibility

PCB mount design with 5 pins ensures stable installation on compatible PCBs.
Standard MX stem shape allows compatibility with a wide range of keycaps.
Unknown compatibility with hot-swap sockets or LED configurations.

Trade-offs

Linear feel may not satisfy users who prefer tactile or clicky feedback for typing accuracy.
Force variance of 5 cN could lead to slight inconsistencies between switches.
Unknown factory lubrication quality, so additional lubing may be needed to reduce scratchiness or noise.
