Product Description

The Dangkeebs Honeydew is a linear mechanical switch designed for users who prefer a softer, less aggressive typing experience with a clear clacky sound. It suits typists and gamers looking for a smooth keypress with a snappy bottom-out feel, delivered by a unique spring and stem combination. This switch is unlubed from the factory and uses new housing materials aimed at balancing rigidity and typing comfort.

Feel & Sound

The switch offers a smooth linear feel with a softer bottom-out compared to typical nylon or PC housings. Its proprietary HPE housing material reduces harshness while maintaining a distinct clack sound, appealing to users who want audible feedback without excessive sharpness. The POM stem paired with an 18mm XL TX spring provides a snappy and engaging keypress.

Build Quality

Both the top and bottom housings are made from HPE, a material developed to improve structural rigidity over UHMWPE while preserving typing comfort. The stem is POM, known for smoothness and durability. The spring is longer than average, contributing to a firm yet responsive bottom-out feel. The switch is unlubed from the factory, which may affect initial smoothness and sound.

Compatibility & Use Cases

The switch uses a 5-pin PCB mount, making it compatible with most standard mechanical keyboard PCBs. It is suitable for users who want a linear switch with moderate bottom-out force and a tactile sound profile. It is less ideal for those seeking tactile or silent switches. The unlubed state means users who prefer smoother or quieter operation may want to apply custom lubrication.

Trade-offs

Being unlubed, the switch may feel scratchy or noisy initially, requiring break-in or user lubrication to improve smoothness. The unique HPE housing may behave differently in long-term durability compared to more common materials, but this is currently unknown. The longer spring length and 65g bottom-out force may feel heavy to users preferring lighter switches.
