Product Description

The Purple Zealios V2 is a tactile mechanical switch suited for typists who want clear, early tactile feedback with reduced wobble. It offers a smooth, pronounced bump at the start of the keypress, making it good for users who prefer a noticeable but not overly sharp tactile response. It is less ideal for gamers who need very fast or light actuation due to its tactile nature and higher bottom-out forces.

Feel & Sound

  • Features a large, smooth tactile bump that begins immediately on keypress, with no pre-travel bump.
  • Offers a crisp and consistent tactile experience that is more pronounced than Holy Pandas but smoother.
  • Bottom-out is cushioned, reducing harsh impact noise and finger fatigue.
  • Sound profile is moderate, not silent, with a clear tactile click but no added noise dampening.

Actuation Characteristics

  • Rated by bottom-out force rather than actuation force, which means the force felt at full keypress is emphasized.
  • Available in four spring weights (62g, 65g, 67g, 78g) to suit different tactile preferences, from lighter and smoother to heavier and snappier.
  • Spring force is consistent from start to finish, with heavier variants providing more resistance and cushion at bottom out.

Build & Compatibility

  • PCB-mounted 5-pin design improves switch stability and reduces wobble compared to similar tactile switches.
  • Can be converted for plate mounting by removing small plastic legs if PCB lacks extra holes.
  • Supports single LED lighting but is not designed for hot-swap sockets without PCB support.
  • Stem made of POM material, housing is clear plastic, contributing to smooth keypress feel.

Modification Potential

  • Factory lubed but benefits from additional lubing and filming (adding thin material between housing parts) to reduce scratchiness and improve smoothness.
  • Reduced wobble helps maintain consistent feel after modifications.

Trade-offs & Use Cases

  • Less suited for fast-paced gaming due to tactile bump and higher actuation force.
  • Good for prolonged typing sessions, offering tactile clarity without excessive noise or finger fatigue.
  • May require break-in period or further lubrication for optimal smoothness.
  • Not silent, so less ideal in quiet office environments.
