Product Description

The Varmilo VPE87 Aurora is a tenkeyless mechanical keyboard suited for users who want flexible connectivity and easy switch customization. It fits well for office workers or hobbyists who prefer a compact layout without a numeric keypad, and value wireless options alongside wired use. Its hot-swap sockets allow changing switches without soldering, appealing to those who like to tailor typing feel or sound.

Key Features

Supports wired USB-C, Bluetooth, and 2.4 GHz wireless modes, allowing seamless switching between devices or use cases.
Hot-swap sockets enable quick switch replacement, so users can experiment with different switch types or replace worn switches easily.
White LED backlighting provides basic illumination without color customization, suitable for low-light typing.
Two-step adjustable kickstand offers typing angle options for ergonomic comfort.
Three-way cord channel lets users route the cable from left, right, or center, improving desk cable management.
Double-layer silicone sound absorption helps reduce typing noise, contributing to a quieter workspace.

Build and Typing Experience

Plastic case and plate-mounted switches keep the keyboard lightweight but may feel less solid compared to metal cases.
PBT keycaps with dye-sublimated legends resist shine and wear for longer-lasting key labeling.
Switch options include Gateron G Pro Yellow, Cherry MX Red, and Cherry MX Brown, covering linear and tactile preferences.
Sound absorption layers improve acoustics, but overall typing sound depends on chosen switches and keycap profile.

Compatibility and Customization

ANSI layout with US QWERTY suits standard typing needs but lacks alternative layouts or language options.
Compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux without special drivers, supporting broad system use.
No QMK or VIA firmware support limits advanced key remapping or macro programming.
No multimedia keys or dedicated audio/mic ports, so media control requires software or OS shortcuts.

Trade-offs

White LED backlighting is limited compared to RGB options, which may not satisfy users wanting full lighting customization.
Lack of firmware customization reduces flexibility for users who want to program layers or macros.
Plastic construction may feel less durable or premium compared to metal-bodied keyboards.
No multimedia keys or audio ports may require additional peripherals for media control.
