Product Description

The Varmilo VPH108 Moonlight is a full-size mechanical keyboard suited for users who want a versatile, quiet typing experience with easy switch customization. It fits well for office workers or hobbyists who value sound dampening and prefer a wired connection with flexible cable routing. Its hotswap PCB allows changing switches without soldering, making it practical for those who like to experiment with different switch types.

Key Features

Hotswap PCB enables quick switch replacement, supporting Cherry MX Silent Red and Brown switches for quieter or tactile feedback.
Double silicone sound dampening pads reduce typing noise and vibrations, improving acoustic comfort.
Dye-sub PBT keycaps resist wear and provide a matte texture, enhancing durability and typing feel.
Three-way cable routing allows the USB-C cord to exit from the left, right, or center, helping with desk cable management.
White LED backlighting offers basic illumination without color customization.
Two-step adjustable kickstands let users set typing angle for ergonomic comfort.

Build Quality

The keyboard uses a plastic case and plate-mounted switches, which provide a stable typing surface but may feel less rigid than metal cases. The keycaps are made of PBT plastic, known for durability and resistance to shine. The overall construction supports long-term use but lacks premium materials like aluminum.

Typing Experience

Switch options include Cherry MX Silent Red for quiet linear typing and Cherry MX Brown for tactile feedback with moderate noise. The sound dampening pads help reduce key noise, making it suitable for quieter environments. The plate mount design offers a firm key feel but limits the flexibility of softer typing sensations.

Compatibility

The VPH108 Moonlight uses a standard ANSI layout with 108 keys and supports Windows, Mac, and Linux systems via USB-C. It does not support QMK or VIA firmware, so key remapping options are limited to default functions. Multimedia keys are included for basic media control.

Trade-offs

No wireless connectivity, so it requires a wired USB-C connection at all times.
Lacks advanced firmware support, limiting customization beyond hardware features.
Plastic case may not appeal to users seeking a heavier or more premium build.
Backlighting is limited to white LEDs without RGB or brightness adjustment options.
