Product Description

The Varmilo VPM87 Sakura R2 is a tenkeyless mechanical keyboard designed for users who want a compact layout with a distinct aesthetic and solid build. It suits typists and general users who prefer a smaller footprint without sacrificing functionality, including multimedia controls and full NKRO (N-key rollover). Its white LED backlighting and pink-white color scheme appeal to those seeking a visually soft, themed keyboard. It is less ideal for users needing a numeric keypad or extensive customization options.

Key Features

Tenkeyless layout saves desk space while retaining essential keys, suitable for users with limited workspace or who prefer minimal setups.
White LED backlighting improves key visibility in low light without being distracting.
Preset multimedia key combinations allow quick access to media controls without dedicated keys.
Three-way cord channel offers flexible cable routing from left, right, or center, helping maintain a tidy desk.
Double silicone sound dampening pads reduce typing noise, making it quieter than typical mechanical keyboards.
Two-step adjustable kickstand lets users set a comfortable typing angle.

Build Quality

Aluminum top plate enhances rigidity and stability during typing.
Plate-mounted MX-compatible switches provide a secure switch fit and support a wide range of aftermarket switches.
Thick dye-sub PBT keycaps resist shine and wear, maintaining legends over time.
ABS materials on top and bottom contribute to a balanced weight and feel.

Typing Experience

Plate mount design offers a firm, consistent keypress feel preferred by many typists.
Sound dampening pads reduce harsh switch noise, improving acoustic comfort in quiet environments.
Keycap profile is Varmilo’s own, which may differ from common profiles and affect typing comfort depending on user preference.

Connectivity and Compatibility

Wired USB-C connection ensures stable, low-latency input suitable for most desktop setups.
Compatible with Windows systems; Unknown support for other operating systems.
ANSI layout with US QWERTY logical layout fits standard key mapping expectations.

Trade-offs

No wireless connectivity, limiting portability and multi-device use.
Lacks dedicated macro keys or onboard programmability, reducing customization for advanced users.
White LED backlighting offers limited lighting effects compared to RGB options.
Pink color scheme may not suit all professional or neutral desk setups.
