Product Description

The Varmilo VPT87 Yakumo is a tenkeyless mechanical keyboard suited for users who want a compact layout with flexible connectivity and easy switch customization. It fits well for office workers or hobbyists who value quiet or tactile typing options and want the choice of wired or wireless use. Its hotswap PCB allows changing switches without soldering, making it adaptable for different typing preferences.

Key Features

Three connection modes: wired via USB-C, Bluetooth 5.1, and 2.4 GHz wireless, offering versatility for desktop or mobile setups.
Polling rates vary by mode, with the fastest response in wired mode (1000 Hz), suitable for tasks needing low latency.
RGB backlighting provides customizable illumination, useful in low-light environments.
Hotswap PCB enables easy switch replacement, supporting various Cherry MX and Kailh switches for tailored typing feel.
Preset multimedia key combinations add quick access to common controls without dedicated keys.
Three-way cord channel allows cable routing from left, right, or center, helping desk cable management.
Two-step adjustable kickstand offers basic typing angle customization.

Build Quality and Typing Experience

Aluminum plate mount provides stable switch installation and a solid typing foundation.
Thick dye-sub PBT keycaps resist shine and offer durable, textured surfaces.
Double-layer silicone sound absorption reduces typing noise, beneficial in quiet environments.
South-facing switch orientation minimizes keycap interference with certain keycap profiles.

Connectivity and Compatibility

Compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux, supporting broad OS use without extra drivers.
Wired connection uses USB-C to USB-A, standard for most computers.
Wireless options allow flexible placement but have lower polling rates, which may affect responsiveness.

Trade-offs

No QMK or other open-source firmware support, limiting advanced key remapping or macro customization.
Polling rates on wireless modes are lower than wired, which may not suit competitive gaming.
Tenkeyless layout omits the number pad, which may reduce efficiency for users needing frequent numeric input.
Preset multimedia keys require key combinations rather than dedicated keys, which can slow access.
