Cherry MX Firefinch Linear Switches

This linear mechanical switch suits users who prefer smooth, consistent keypresses without tactile bumps or clicks. It fits well for gamers seeking straightforward actuation and typists who want a quiet, fluid experience. The moderate actuation force balances responsiveness with comfort, making it versatile for extended use.

Feel and Sound

• Linear travel delivers a smooth keystroke without tactile feedback, reducing finger fatigue during rapid typing or gaming.
• Milky top housing diffuses light evenly, which benefits RGB setups but does not affect sound.
• Sound profile is quiet with a soft bottom-out, lacking the sharp click or pronounced thock often found in tactile or clicky switches.

Actuation Characteristics

• Actuation force around 45g offers a balance between lightness and resistance, suitable for users who want control without heavy presses.
• Total travel of 4mm provides a standard keypress depth, with a defined bottom-out force near 50g that prevents harsh impacts.
• Consistent force curve supports predictable keypresses, aiding accuracy in fast typing or gaming.

Build Quality

• Gold-plated springs enhance durability and reduce corrosion, contributing to long-term reliability.
• Spring length of 18mm supports stable keypress feel and consistent force delivery.
• Housing material specifics are unknown, but the milky top suggests a focus on light diffusion rather than sound dampening.

Trade-offs

• Lack of tactile feedback may feel less engaging for users who prefer a noticeable bump or click.
• Unknown factory lubrication quality means additional lubing might be needed to reduce any initial scratchiness, which affects smoothness.
• Potential spring noise or ping is not specified, so some users may experience minor spring sounds under rapid keypresses.
