Product Description

HMX Hazelnut V2 is a factory-lubed linear switch for users who want a smooth press without a tactile bump. Its relatively light actuation may suit quick, low-effort typing, while its clacky sound makes it less suitable for quiet shared spaces.

Feel and sound

The modified LY stem and PA12 top housing are intended to give the switch smooth travel. The linear design has no tactile bump to signal actuation, so it suits users who prefer an even press over tactile feedback. Its clacky sound has a distinct, crisp character; it may still be noticeable even if it is not especially sharp or piercing.

Press and return

Actuation occurs early in the key’s travel, which may appeal to users who prefer a shorter press before a key registers. The light actuation force can reduce effort, but may feel too easy to trigger for people who prefer heavier switches. The vendor describes the bottom-out as firm, so pressing fully down should feel more solid than the lighter initial press.

Trade-offs

Factory lubrication, meaning lubricant applied during manufacturing, is intended to make the press smoother. The sound and lack of tactile feedback are the main fit considerations: choose another option if you need a quiet switch or a tactile cue while typing. Stem wobble and spring noise are not specified, so those qualities are unknown.
