The JWICK Nylon Black is a linear mechanical switch suited for users who prefer a smooth, consistent keystroke without tactile feedback. It fits well for typists or gamers who want a straightforward, quiet keypress with moderate resistance. Its design focuses on durability and affordability, making it a practical choice for budget-conscious builds.
This switch offers a linear feel, meaning the keystroke is smooth from top to bottom without any tactile bump. The bottom-out force is relatively firm, which can provide a solid typing experience but may feel heavier during extended use. It produces a quiet sound profile with minimal noise, suitable for office or shared environments.
The housing is made entirely of PA66 nylon, which enhances durability and reduces unwanted vibrations. The stem is constructed from POM, a low-friction material that contributes to the smooth keystroke. The spring requires moderate force to bottom out, supporting deliberate keypresses without being overly stiff. The switch comes lightly pre-lubed, reducing initial scratchiness and easing break-in time.
It uses a 5-pin PCB mount design, ensuring stable installation and compatibility with most standard mechanical keyboard PCBs. The factory lubrication is light, so additional lubing can further improve smoothness and reduce any residual scratchiness. Filming, which involves adding a thin layer between housing parts to reduce wobble and noise, may benefit this switch but is not required.
The switch’s heavier bottom-out force may cause finger fatigue for some users during long typing sessions. While the pre-lube helps, some scratchiness might remain until fully broken in or after additional lubrication. The linear design lacks tactile feedback, which may be less satisfying for users who prefer a more responsive feel.
