Product Description

The Varmilo VB21M Beijing Opera Numpad is a compact numeric keypad designed for users who want a wireless, Cherry MX switch-based numpad that complements the Beijing Opera keyboard series. It suits users needing a reliable Bluetooth connection for numeric input on Windows, Mac, or Linux systems. This numpad is ideal for those who prefer a standalone device with quality keycaps and a traditional ANSI layout, but it lacks hot-swappable switches and wired connectivity options.

Key Features

Equipped with genuine Cherry MX switches, offering consistent mechanical key feel with options including Brown, Red, and Silent Red for different tactile or quiet preferences.
Bluetooth 5.0 wireless connection provides cable-free use, suitable for desk setups where reducing wire clutter is important.
Thick dye-sub PBT keycaps improve durability and resist shine from prolonged use, enhancing long-term legibility and texture.
Designed specifically to match the Beijing Opera keyboard aesthetic, making it a cohesive choice for users with that keyboard.

Build Quality

Plate-mounted switches contribute to a stable and solid typing feel.
ABS case materials on top and bottom provide a lightweight but sturdy enclosure.
Keycap legends are dye-sub printed on the top, which prevents fading over time.

Connectivity and Power

Bluetooth 5.0 offers wireless convenience but requires 2 AAA batteries (not included), which means users must manage battery replacement.
No wired connection option limits use to Bluetooth only, which may be less suitable for users needing a stable wired link or charging via USB.

Compatibility

Supports Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems, ensuring broad compatibility for most users.
Uses a US QWERTY ANSI layout, which fits standard numeric keypad expectations.

Trade-offs

Lacks hot-swappable switches, so changing switches requires soldering or professional modification.
No built-in audio or microphone ports, limiting multimedia integration.
Battery-powered operation means occasional interruptions for battery changes, which may be inconvenient for heavy users.
